"Nothing that we do to, or for, our students is more important than our assessment of their work and the feedback we give them on it. The results of our assessment influence our students for the rest of their lives and careers – fine if we get it right, but unthinkable if we get it wrong." ~Race, Brown and Smith (2005), 500 Tips on Assessment
What a powerful quote! We have a very important responsibility in assessing and giving appropriate feedback to our students.
Locate three digital resources that could be utilized when evaluating student work and discuss in your blog how these resources would enhance the level of specific feedback offered to students.
The following three digital resources are tools that will allow us to provide communication and feedback to our students in innovative ways:
Soundcloud (soundcloud.com): This is a great place to record personal feedback for each student that can be saved and emailed as appropriate. It is incredibly user friendly and is one resource I definitely plan to utilize on a regular basis!
Google Drive: I have actually utilized this one quite a bit as an educator in the traditional classroom and will continue to utilize it as I transition into online education courses. The ability to share documents from student to educator allows us to then create personalized feedback that is unique to the individual's assignment or performance task.
Ecards: Most everyone has seen an ecard when online. They are a really fun and free way to input whatever personal message you need to convey to a student in terms of feedback or even to create a rapport with your students as you get to know them better. Besides, everyone likes to get a card every now and again! :)
